The response we've had to our Surf Shop sale has been huge with big demand for our Wetsuits since we have slashed the prices last week! C.J HOBGOOD TAKES OUT WQS 6-STAR PRIME HANG LOOSE PRO
FERNANDO DE NORONHA, Pernambuco/Brazil (Saturday, February 6, 2010) - 2001 ASP World Champion and current ASP Dream Tour stalwart C.J. Hobgood (USA) confirmed his status of top seed at the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) 6-Star PRIME Hang Loose Pro, winning the first ASP Prime event of the year in Fernando de Noronha, Brazil. Raoni Monteiro made his third final in a row in Cacimba do Padre waves, but as last year, didn't find the barrels to win.
"I'm stoked," Hobgood said. "Last year I put too much pressure on myself and it didn't paid off. It was amazing to win right now in the ning of the season. I was lucky all day long finding those left barrels and I'm glad to be here in this amazing place."
Hobgood walked away with a US $20,000 winner's check and 6,500 points to take the lead of the ASP World Rankings. Raoni pocketed US $10,000 and 4,875 points to place himself two steps below Hobgood on the ASP World Rankings where young Brazilian Alejo Muniz is the current No. 2. Here in Noronha Alejo and fellow coutryman Wiggolly Dantas was equal 3rd.
JAMIE O'BRIEN STORMS TO VICTORY IN VOLCOM PIPELINE PRO, HAWAII
PIPELINE, Oahu/Hawaii (Monday, February 1, 2010) - Prayers, plundered surfboards and Pipeline perfection were the order of the final day of the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Qualifying Series (WQS) 5-Star Volcom Pipeline Pro, and local boy Jamie O'Brien avoided the drama to walk away with the win. O'Brien, 26, clinched his third Pipeline Pro title today to take home $16,000 and 2,000 ASP WQS ratings points. Surf for the final day was in the range of 10-15-foot wave face heights.
Australian pair Anthony Walsh and Mark Mathews were second and third respectively in the final, both breaking surfboards and forced to swim to the beach during the 45-minute bout. Fourth place was Hawaii's Danny Fuller, who posted the day's only perfect 10 during his semi-final heat but was unable to exit several deep tubes in the final that might have scored the same.
Two high scores - 8.77 and 8.23 - sealed the deal for O'Brien, giving him a two-wave total of 17.0 out of a maximum 20.
